PAARRUAN is a platform for setting abortion research agenda, utilizing the findings and implementing relevant projects to reduce unsafe abortion in Nigeria.
The Partnership is coordinated by the consortium of Centre for Research, Evaluation Resources, and Development (CRERD) and the Academy for Health Development (AHEAD) both in Nigeria with support from the Guttmacher Institute, USA.
PAARRUAN is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria.
In 2021, the consortium of CRERD and AHEAD with support from the Guttmacher Institute embarked on a national project to understand the state of research on abortion in Nigeria through the convening of experts across disciplines and relevant development partners.
From the deliberations, a curriculum for a multidisciplinary approach to abortion research in Nigeria was developed in 2022.
In 2022, twenty-five (25) young scholars were mentored through the curriculum developed by the experts abortion research and supported to carry out research on their chosen approaches to abortion research.
